About the Route
Two days on the Salaca through the heart of the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve, one of Latvia's most pristine protected river corridors. The Salaca here flows through undisturbed forest, with sandy river beaches appearing regularly — ideal spots for overnight camping under the stars. The river is gentle and suitable for beginners, though its current keeps the pace engaging. Watch the clear water carefully and you may spot salmon resting in the deeper pools, especially in autumn. A wonderfully calm, nature-rich two-day journey through a rarely visited corner of northern Latvia.
