About the Route
Two days combining the active lower Brasla with the iconic upper Gauja, finishing in Sigulda. Day one takes you from Plācis through the Brasla's fast-flowing lower reaches to the confluence with the Gauja, with a riverside camp overnight. Day two follows the Gauja downstream through Gauja National Park's sandstone and forest scenery to Sigulda. It's a route of two distinct moods: the Brasla's swift, enclosed forest character on day one, and the Gauja's more expansive, cliff-lined personality on day two. An excellent choice for paddlers wanting a varied, rewarding two-day adventure.
What You'll See Along the Way
Brasla to Gauja transition
Day one on the active lower Brasla, day two on the classic Gauja — two contrasting rivers and two very different moods in a single two-day journey.
Riverside camping
Overnight camping at the Brasla-Gauja confluence, with forest on both sides and the sound of two rivers merging nearby.
Sigulda finale
The second day ends in Sigulda, where Turaida Castle, medieval ruins and the Gauja gorge cable car are all within easy reach of the take-out.
