About the Route

The Brasla's upper section from Rozula is a beautiful introduction to one of Gauja National Park's most treasured tributaries. The river here is narrow and lively, fed by forest springs that keep the water exceptionally clear. Overhanging alder trees form a natural tunnel along much of this stretch, and the forest on both banks is undisturbed and quiet. The current provides gentle excitement without technical difficulty, making this suitable for paddlers with a little experience. Expect to see beavers, kingfishers and perhaps a deer at the water's edge. A scenic and satisfying day on a river few tourists ever discover.
