About the Route
The longest classic route through Gauja National Park, covering the river's most celebrated reaches over three full days. Starting from Jāņrāmis, the route takes paddlers deep into the heart of the national park, past sandstone cliffs, ancient pine forests and sandy river beaches perfect for overnight camping. Two nights on the river give you time to settle into the pace and watch for black storks, ospreys and kingfishers along the way. The journey ends in Sigulda, where Turaida Castle, medieval ruins and the famous cable car over the river gorge make a memorable finale. The definitive Gauja paddling experience.
