About the Route
Latvia's most epic multi-day paddle, taking you the full length of Gauja National Park from Valmiera to Sigulda over three days. Each day has its own character: the first reveals the open upper valley and wide meadow banks; the second plunges into dense forest and sandstone cliffs; the third follows the dramatic lower gorge toward Sigulda. Two nights of riverside camping under forest canopy are included. The route finishes in Sigulda, Latvia's adventure capital, where medieval castle ruins, the cable car and Turaida Castle are all within easy reach. One of the best river trips in the Baltic states.
What You'll See Along the Way
Epic 3-day Gauja traverse
One of Latvia's best multi-day adventures — paddling the full Valmiera to Sigulda stretch through the national park's most scenic reaches.
Medieval castle finale
The journey ends in Sigulda surrounded by castle ruins, a cable car crossing the river, and Latvia's most dramatic valley views.
Three distinct days
Each day reveals a different character: wide open valleys, deep sandstone gorges and finally the narrow wooded lower reaches above Sigulda.
