About the Route
A quieter two-day route through the lower section of Gauja National Park, taking you from Līgatne into the wider, more remote lower valley toward Rāmkalni. The sandstone walls here are among the tallest in the entire park — dramatic orange-red cliffs rising sheer from the water's edge. This section sees fewer paddlers than the popular Cēsis-Sigulda stretch, making it ideal for those wanting peace and wild camping far from the crowds. Rich birdlife includes white-tailed eagles, black storks and kingfishers. A rewarding route for paddlers who prefer solitude and raw natural beauty over famous landmarks.
